Daylight Savings Time Has Jumped the Shark I was never really impacted by Daylight Savings Time (or the “End of Daylight Savings Time”) the way others seem to be. On my end, the reason is simple: I suck at sleeping. Not only am I terrible at sleeping, but I have a tendency to wake up a few hours prior to sunrise. I feel guilty and unproductive if I sleep in. Don’t judge me for it (and don’t worry I won’t judge you for enjoying sleep). That said, I never got the joy of sleeping in the extra hour nor the bitterness of the hour lost.
I think DST has outgrown its usefulness, it may have been useful during a war time or when we were rationing energy, but at this point we could just get rid of it. I expect it to remain just because there are so many other priorities, I wouldn't expect any politician to ever enter office passionate about changing DST.
