An Aramaic Thanksgiving Prayer

In this video, I go over one of the many thanksgiving prayers found in the Syriac Orthodox tradition. Transcription, transliteration, and translation may be found below:

Some notes on pronunciation: I wasn’t able to underline some of the softened BEGEDKEPAT letters, so I added an “h” behind them (e.g. th, kh, ph).

The following special characters make unique sounds: ā sounds like “o” or the Swedish å letter. ˁ is a strange sound for westerners; sounds like we’re choking and is very guttural. The ḥ is an emphatic H. The ṭ is an emphatic T letter. The ṣ is an emphatic S.

ܨܠܽܘܬ݂ܳܐ ܕ݂ܩܽܘܒܳܠܛܰܝܒܽܘܬ݂ܳܐ / Ṣlouthā dh-qubālṭaybuthā / A Prayer of Thanksgiving

ܡܰܘܕܶܝܢܰܢ ܘܣܳܓ݂ܕܺܝܢܰܢ ܠܪܶܚܡܰܬ݂ ܐ̱ܢܳܫܽܘܬ݂ܳܟ݂ ܡܳܪܝܳܐ / maudenan u-soghdinan l-raḥmath nošuthokh MĀRYĀ / We give thanks and worship your love toward mankind, O LORD

ܐܰܢ̱ܬ ܕܶܝܢ ܠܟ݂ܽܠܰܢ ܚܰܝܶܠ ܘܥܰܕܰܪ ܐܳܦ݂ ܣܡܽܘܟ݂܆ / att dein l-khulan ḥayel wˁadar āph smukh / So now, strengthen, help, and support all of us

ܘܚܰܣܳܐ ܠܟ݂ܽܠܰܢ ܘܰܐܢܺܝܚ ܒܰܕ݂ ܕܶܐܬ݂ܒܰܣܰܡܢܰܢ ܡܶܢ ܦܳܬ݂ܽܘܪܳܐ ܗܳܢܳܐ ܪܽܘܚܳܢܳܝܳܐ / w-ḥasā l-khulan waniḥ badh dethbasamnan len pāthurā hānā ruḥānāyā / Absolve all of us and grant rest, as we have enjoyed of this spiritual table

ܘܠܳܟ݂ ܫܽܘܒ݂ܚܳܐ ܘܬ݂ܰܘܕܝܬ݂ܳܐ ܡܰܣܩܺܝܢܰܢ / u-lākh šuvḥā uthawdithā masqinan / And to you we offer praise and thanksgiving

ܘܠܺܝܚܺܝܕ݂ܳܝܳܐ ܒ݂ܪܳܟ݂ ܘܰܠܪܽܘܚܳܐ ܕ݂ܺܝܠܳܟ݂ ܩܰܕܺܝܫܳܐ / u-liḥidāyā brākh wal-ruḥā dhilākh qaddišā / And to your only-begotten Son, and to your Holy Spirit

ܗܳܫܳܐ ܘܰܒ݂ܟ݂ܽܠܙܒ݂ܰܢ ܠܥܳܠܡܺܝܢ݂ / hāšā wa-vkhulzvan l-ˁālmin / Now, always, and forever;
